Teddy Bear Hunt raises £132.71 for Helen & Douglas Houbearsse Hospice

Our fun Teddy bear hunt on 12 August was a great success raising £132.71 in aid of the charity Helen & Douglas House which provides hospice care for children and young adults. Youngsters (and oldsters too) brought their favourite teddies and headed off on a bear hunt through our nature walk answering clues to find some famous bears. None other than a bear looking suspiciously like Paddington was waiting for them at the end. We had a prize draw conducted by Bucklebury Farm Park owner Rupert Hartley Russell for all our successful bear hunters won by Megan Birch aged 6 from Marsh Benham, Maisie Cornwall (6) from Welford and Charlie Spring (3) from Reading. We were delighted that our local MP Richard Benyon was able to join us on the day and even tried out our new jumping pillow - what a great sport!

See the curly pigs at Bucklebury Farm Park

Bucklebury Farm Park farmer Rupert was given a surprise Christmas present of two gorgeous woolly-coated Hungarian Mangalitsa pigs (Ivan and Olga) by partner Elizabeth. There was an even bigger surprise when Olga produced a cheeky litter of stripey piglets just two days before we re-opened for the new season. Known as "curly" pigs, Mangalitzas are relatively new to the UK and we think this is the first litter born in Berkshire!!
